All guests staying with the Ronald McDonald have sick children who are at the time, hospitalized. The majority of the demographics include low-income and out of state or city populations as these people are in primary need of lodging during their child's medical stay. Per their guidelines, 100% of guests have a child 21 years or younger who is in the hospital, guests can apply online and preplan for a medical stay or can be referred by a hospital staff or Ronald McDonald House employee. All guests must pass a background check in order to be eligible. The Ronald McDonald House estimates that their services cost $100 per night for each room/family, it is optional for guests to donate an amount. Per their enrollment paperwork, they ask guests if they can afford to pay $10 per night to assist with costs to maintain the house and provide food. In a statistic posted by the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire, 95% of guests were unable to pay the $10 per night. Outside funds are raised through marketing, their Share-a-Night program, and general donations. This information suggests that the majority population of Ronald McDonald House guests are low-income.

The Ronald McDonald House accepts people of all demographics, the only requirement being that they have a sick or injured child to care for. No facts or statistics were found to include the number of single parents or grandparents who care for these children. The focus being, keeping families together and supported during a time of need.
